Why the Dub Dub Club exists and what your membership pays for.
Dear listener,
We started the Winged Wheel Podcast back in 2015, having hardly ever met each other and sitting in Brad’s kitchen with no idea what we were doing. We did this because we were the same as you: passionate Detroit Red Wings fans who just wanted to talk hockey. More than 950 episodes later (and moving from the kitchen table to the basement and now our WWP studio), we’re still doing just that – as an independent show.
Being independent means we answer to the people who listen. We can be honest about trades, contracts and the front office, and we can take as long as a topic needs. It also means the cost of making the show is ours to cover.
The “Dub Dub Club” is our membership on Patreon, and it is the most direct way to keep the show going. Members pay a monthly amount through Patreon, and in return they get bonus episodes, exclusive content, ad-free listening (coming soon), ticket giveaways, access to merch we make for members and a place in our members’ Discord.

Patreon is the membership platform the Dub Dub Club runs on. You join and pay through Patreon with a Patreon account, and your membership lives in that account.
How does billing work?
You pay through Patreon at the price of the tier you choose, and Patreon handles the payment. Billing is monthly (beginning of each month or whenever you sign up).
Can I cancel?
You can cancel your membership from your Patreon account at any time.
How do I listen to the bonus episodes?
You reach bonus episodes through your Patreon membership once you have joined a tier that includes them. Once in Patreon, you can find integrations to tune into the episodes on Spotify or any podcast player that can load your custom RSS feed.
How do I get into the members' Discord?
After you join, you'll be given instruction on how to access the members' Discord through your Patreon membership.
Do I need to join to hear the regular show?
No, the main episodes are public on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, this website, and anywhere you can find podcasts. A membership adds the extras described on this page.
What does my membership pay for?
Your membership helps pay for podcast and website hosting, microphones, cameras and editing software, recording episodes and bonus content, club merch, travel and event costs for our WWP Night fundraisers, and everything that goes into us being able to make more content and improvements to the show. Eventually, we'd love to be able to do this full-time while staying independent!
